A "Última célula livre" é uma técnica básica de resolução de Sudoku. É bastante simples e baseada no facto de que cada bloco de 3 x 3, coluna vertical ou linha horizontal na grelha do Sudoku tem de conter os números de 1 a 9 e que cada número pode ser utilizado apenas uma vez em cada bloco de 3 x 3, coluna ou linha.
Assim, se observarmos que há apenas uma célula livre no bloco de 3 x 3, coluna ou linha, temos de definir que número de 1 a 9 está em falta e introduzi-lo na célula vazia.
