With harder puzzles, the brute force method gets even less useful. As the Sudoku Professor says: “The bottom line is that there’s a lot of confusing data. And, when you use the brute force method on hard puzzles, you frequently end up with a lot of spaces where 6, 7, 8 or more spaces are possibilities. In other words, the technique doesn’t actually allow you to narrow down anything.”
